Hi Erika, I really sense a kindred vision here with the dramatic hair and gaze of this sculpture. It's breath taking. Let's keep in touch. Brent

That's why they say the interpretation of an artwork tells more about the viewer than the work! :) Thanks for the info, very cool.

Trying a new medium

About two months ago I participated in a donor appreciation event, where we were invited to try our hands at linocutting. I jumped at the opportunity to learn something new, especially if it had to do with anything 3D. Last time I held a chisel in my hands was about 30 years ago in my woodcarver uncle's studio. The chisel felt very familiar and I made my first linocut in a few minutes. I was hooked. I bought all the supplies needed soon after, and made a few more linocuts. Making the prints by h… Continue

Congrats on the award!

Hmmm...Etsy is OK, but most of my sales are via word of mouth and Facebook (if you can believe it), not Etsy. My first sales on Etsy were from someone who first saw my work on Facebook. I find that it is easy to get buried on Etsy. There is so much "stuff" on there, and so many shops listing frequently that it's hard to get noticed. My shop is very small (so far), so even harder to get noticed. Tagging your items well really helps, I find, and so does participating in the forums. There is an Ontario Etsy team, but I don't think they're very active at all as I never get any emails from the admin.

My sister has a Jewellry shop on Etsy and finds the same thing. Visibility is hard, but you do get the odd sales here and there. Her shop name is TheMadKilner and she works in glass. I will also be openning a jewellery shop on there soon, I am just in the process of making some new necklaces to post on there. My stuff is more Bhemian and organic using a lot of wooden beads, cotton/leather/and hemp cording and varying types of beads like shell, lampwork, and semi-precious.

So - you have a Jewellery shop on Etsy? What is your name on ther, I'd love to check it out!

Hi Erika. Thank you for the warm welcome! I didn't even know this site existed until a friend of mine on Facebook posted a link to it! I'm so glad to find some like-minded individuals in the area!

I'm still feeling my way around this site, but hope to get to know everyone better soon!

By the way - I love your sculptures. Especially Krista! Very ethereal and mystical!

Hi Erika:There's not too much of a story about trapped.I just felt silly at Ajax Creative Arts where there just happens to be a jail cell downstairs.
I could add all kinds of middle aged delemas but, it was basically silliness.

Hi Erika: I really like your sculptures and will look forward to any explanations sometime of each one.
I've never really tried sculpting but it looks like fun.
Keep up the good work.
